Q. What video formats do you support?

We support  8mm, Super 8mm, 16mm, VHS, DVD, Digital 8, Hi8, Regular 8, Beta, mini DV, DV, and all foreign video formats such as PAL or SECAM. If you have MicroMV or a format not listed, please give us a call because we can work something out.

Q. How long does it take to transfer my video?

This really depends on the time of year and if you ship us the film or if it is a local drop off. We do all videos in the order we get them unless it is a rush job which we do at no extra cost. We generally say 2 weeks and the videos will be back in your hands but this excludes shipping and that time can increase around Christmas time.

Q. Can I get computer files so I can edit them myself?

Yes! We can give you AVI, MPEG, MPG, MP2, MP4, WMV, and all formats of Reel on a CD or DVD. The files we use are very very large so we normally compress them down before we give them to you, but you can request we don't.

Q. Should I get a DVD or a VHS?

We recommend a DVD because they last longer. We also have more content control with DVDs and because of the menu systems, they are a lot easier for you to navigate. You can look at the menu and see every reel and click on the one you want to watch or click the first one and let them all play through. With a VHS, you have to watch them all in order. If you'd like more information or have us recommend something, contact us.

Q. How long do VHS tapes last?

We are just now seeing that VHS tapes are lasting about 19 to 20 years. It's hard to predict ahead of time but the technology is to the age where we are finally seeing the tapes degrade.

Q. How long do DVD's last?

No one is really sure. First guesses are at least 20 years but some say they will last around 50 to 100 years.

Q. Will the DVD you provide me work in my DVD player?

The majority of DVD players will play our DVD's. In fact, we've never had a customer not be able to play our DVDs. To make sure your DVD player will play one of our disc's, click here and type in your DVD player model and you can find out. Our format is DVD-R.

Q. How much time can you put on a Tape/DVD?

We can fit approximately 2 hours our 120 minutes of video on both DVD's and VHS. We can however fit 240 minutes or 4 hours on Dual-Layer DVD's and long play VHS tapes.

Q. This film is very important to me. Will I get it back and will it be safe with you?

We will send your film back to you in the exact condition you gave it to us. You don't need to worry about it getting damaged or lost or not getting returned. We keep all orders together with the ticket inside the bag or box so your order will never get misplaced.

Q. I'm still unsure and have more questions. Can I call and talk to somebody?

That's what we are here for. We find that every job is unique and when we have questions that might cost you more money, like your video's don't all fit on one tape or DVD, we call you to let you know and see if you still want to have those reels done. So feel free to call us! Go to our contact page and get a hold of us. We would love to hear from you.
